SPRING RETURNED

By GRANT GRANGER -- Winnipeg Sun
Wednesday, January 5, 2000

The Moose also announced right-winger Corey Spring has been recalled by the Tampa Bay Lightning and designated for reassignment. Spring came to the Moose on Dec. 7 from the Detroit Vipers, the Lightning's farm team. He had two goals and two assists in eight games for the Moose. Spring scored both his goals in his first game but then developed back trouble.

"When we acquired him there was a 30-day period in which we had the opportunity to make a decision based on how we felt about him," said Moose head coach/GM Randy Carlyle. "When he came back off of (the injury) he just didn't seem to have the fit that we required."

The move leaves the Moose with the minimum 16 players and two goaltenders healthy. Lonny Bohonos is out for another couple of weeks with a fractured leg and winger Marc Rodgers, who has been having injury problems with the Detroit Red Wings, may be reassigned to the Moose soon.
