Vipers Beat Griffins, 4-1
GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan (Ticker) -- Tim Thomas stopped 36 shots
and Corey Spring scored twice as the Detroit Vipers beat the
Grand Rapids Griffins, 4-1, for their third win in five games. Spring, with an assist from Eduard Pershin, scored the first goal of the contest at 10:59 in the second period. Spring and Pershin both added empty-net scores within the final minute to seal the victory. Andy Bezeau's goal 5:24 into the final period supplied Detroit with a two-goal lead but Michel Picard responded with a power-play score 2:20 later for Grand Rapids.
Mike Fountain made 22 saves before being removed in favor of an extra attacker late in the contest.
