SPRINGER NEWS!!!

With the return of Rob Zamuner to the Bolts' lineup
Springer's been sent down to Adirondacks
where he will get to play in the AHL playoffs.
GOOD LUCK, COREY!

(April 6, 1998) SAVE OF THE GAME
The best scoring chance the Lightning had came at the 10:15 mark of the
second period, when Corey Spring fired a quick backhander back
toward the right post as he cut right to left across the slot. Islanders G Wade
Flaherty stuck his glove out and snared the puck, preserving the second
Islanders shutout of the Lightning in as many games.

The Lightning have recalled Springer from Adirondacks! He'll
be playing in the April 4th game against the Penguins and I'll be there!

After playing in four games for the Bolts, Springer
has returned to Adirondacks for the playoffs, with rave reviews
from fans and Lightning management. In the 3/21/98 game against
Florida, Springer slam-dunked Chris Wells and easily won the fight.
Hurry back, Corey!

YES!!!!!
"The Lightning had taken a 3-2 lead on Corey Spring's first NHL goal in his
second career game since being called up last Thursday from Adirondack of the
AHL. He scored on a rebound of Mikael Andersson's shot 3:03 into the third
period as he was being tripped by Van Impe."

Congrats, Corey, on the first of many NHL goals!

Spring scored his first NHL goal, following Andersson's
accurate shot to the net and beating a Boston defenseman to the rebound.
``Go to the net and good things happen,'' said Spring, who played 5:14 over six shifts.
``Your first goal is a big moment in any player's life.
Too bad it wasn't the game-winner ... like it should have been."

SPRINGER'S NHL DEBUT!
Although he only played 4:50 minutes in his NHL debut with the Bolts against
the Blackhawks, Corey Spring impressed not only management and fans with his
efforts, but quite a few of the 'hawks as well (impressed them right into the glass!)
Wearing #28, Spring's on-ice efforts got the entire Bolts team pumped,
culminating in a 1-0 win over Chicago. (And *I* was there!)
Way to go Corey! Now beat those Bruins!

From ESPN: "Tampa Bay Lightning recalled right wing Corey Spring
and defenseman Pavel Kubina from Adirondack.
YES!! Springer will be in Tampa for the game against the Blackhawks March 14,
and I WILL BE THERE! (thank you, Anne!)

From the St. Petersburg Times, March 10, 1998: "There's still
the possibility some guys will go to the minors," (Jacques) Demers said,
adding he wants the Lightning to dip into its minor-league system for some
fresh faces. "I'd like to see Corey Spring, (Pavel) Kubina,
(Brent) Peterson. And (Paul) Brousseau, because he's burning up the (American
Hockey League) down there. I want 24 healthy players who are willing to play."

"If the Bolts are looking for toughness, Corey Spring may be their man,
and he's been mentioned as a possible call-up in light of the team's
troubles intimidating opponents. The winger's not a fighter, but he'll
bang you with his 6-foot-4, 215-pound frame. At AHL Adirondack, Spring, 26,
had 114 penalty minutes last year, and he already has 34 PIM this year.
And now he's scoring, collecting seven goals and nine assists in 14 games."

An article in the Feb. 4, 1998 Tampa Tribune says: "The Lightning originally
planned to combat the loss of three forwards due to illness or injury by
bringing Corey Spring to the NHL. Spring, however, injured a shoulder a couple
of days before the Lightning made the call, so Paul Brousseau and Brent Peterson
were summoned instead. With 13 goals and 16 assists in 41 games for Adirondack
(AHL), it won't be long before Spring sees his first NHL action."

HEY, COREY, COME ON UP!!

Red Wings Nominate Right Wing Corey Spring

Rugged winger draws closer to 20-goal plateau

The Adirondack Red Wings are pleased to nominate right wing Corey Spring for the Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week award for the period ending Sunday, February 22nd. Spring, a 6-4, 220 lb. native of Cranbrook, B.C., kicked off the week with a goal and an assist in the Wings 4-3 loss to Hamilton Wednesday. Two nights later in Philadelphia, the third-year pro nearly rallied the Wings all the way back from a 4-0 deficit by netting two goals and adding an assist during the later stages of the match with the Phantoms. Saturday versus Rochester, Spring kept his point streak alive by setting up an Allan Egeland goal which tied the score at 3-3. The Wings eventually dropped the contest 4-3. Signed as a free agent by Tampa during the summer of 1995, Spring played college hockey at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.
